Do you have the guts to be healthy?

The body needs to get rid of wastes and toxins that we may be exposed to in our food, air and water. If you are not pregnant or nursing, you would probably find that doing a cleanse will improve your energy and your mental clarity. This was the first step in my healing journey and the most beneficial to improving my memory, brainpower, feel more energy and dropping a few extra pounds.

Everyday our body produces waste in the process of metabolism. Each day we consume substances through food, water, and air that are potentially harmful for our system. The good news is, the body has the capacity to deal with this challenge. The body rids itself of metabolic waste and chemical irritants through various elimination systems.

Just about any system or machine needs some kind of regular cleaning to run properly. It only makes sense that the body will be healthier if waste and toxins are eliminated easily. I cannot stress enough about the importance for your body to maintain a good elimination for better health. Plumbers know that pipes can get clogged and drains need to be cleaned. It makes sense that this is true for our bodies.

Cleansing is about two things. One is reducing your exposure to toxins and second is using herbs, supplements, hydrotherapy, fasting or other natural means to improve the function of the organs responsible for elimination.

Since cleansing is the process of getting rid of what is no longer useful, doing a cleanse is simply supporting the body’s natural detoxification systems to eliminate metabolic waste and environmental toxins in an efficient way. Using herbs, that have been found historically or scientifically to improve liver and kidney function, bind toxins, increase lymphatic flow, open the sweat glands and encourage elimination from the bowels. It may also involve destroying harmful organisms such as yeast, bacteria or parasites.

Water

The key component for cleansing is water. Remember to drink plenty of water during the cleanse, at least ½ ounce per pound of body weight per day.

Fiber

The second most important component for cleansing is fiber. Dietary fiber binds toxins in the intestinal tract and bulks stool to promote normal and healthy elimination. Most Americans do not get enough fiber in their diet, so a good fiber supplement like Psyllium Hulls is important for maintaining normal elimination.

Detoxifying Herbs

The third tool needed for a good cleanse is a blend of herbs that support the liver, kidneys, colon and lymphatics. The liver utilizes enzyme systems that neutralize toxins and prepare them to be flushed through the kidneys or colon (via the gallbladder). Water and fiber then carry these toxins away. Many herbal formulas for supporting this process are available. Get in contact with me so we work together on your specific needs. Click the link below to browse a few cleansing therapies.

Diet

Simply avoid all refined and processed foods during the cleanse and eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. This aids the cleansing process by not burdening the body with more processed and chemical additives.

There is a benefit to this time to clean up your diet is that cleaning out the body tends to reduce your craving for junk food. By the time you are finished with your cleansing program it will be easier to maintain a healthy clean eating platform.

Remember that cleansing takes the good out with the bad, so you alternate cleansing with a program of rebuilding and good nutrition. When it comes to cleansing more is not better.
